The information in this dataset is taken from incident reports in BPD's nine patrol districts. Details of past incidents may change over time based upon further investigation, administrative process, or when human or mechanical error is discovered and corrected. Please contact BPD if you have any questions.

Id |
A unique identifier for a given incident. A single incident may contain multiple uses of force, officers, and residents. When that is the case, there will be multiple rows of data for one incident. |
Case Number |
The case number of the incident. |
Occurred Date |
The date that the incident occurred. |
Received Date |
The date that the report of the incident was received. |
Completed Date |
The date that the investigation of the incident was completed. |
Assignment |
The officer's assignment at the time of the incident. |
Use of Force Reason |
The reason the officer used force. |
Officer Force Type |
The type of force that was used by the officer in the incident. |
Service Type |
The reason for the interaction. |
Arrest Made |
Whether the resident was arrested as part of the incident. |
Arrest Charges |
If the resident was arrested as part of the incident, what they were charged with. |
Resident Injured |
TRUE if the resident was injured during the incident, FALSE if the resident was not injured. |
Resident Hospitalized |
TRUE if the resident was hospitalized during the incident, FALSE if the resident was not hospitalized. |
Resident Condition |
Injuries the resident sustained, if any. |
Officer Injured |
TRUE if the officer was injured during the incident, FALSE if the officer was not injured. |
Officer Hospitalized |
TRUE if the officer was hospitalized during the incident, FALSE if the officer was not hospitalized. |
Officer Condition |
Injuries the officer sustained, if any. |
Resident Identifier |
An identifier, unique to a single incident, for a resident. |
Resident Race |
The resident's race. |
Resident Sex |
The resident's gender. |
Resident Age |
The resident's age at the time of the incident. |
Officer Race |
The officer's race. |
Officer Sex |
The officer's gender. |
Officer Age |
The officer's age at the time of the incident. |
Officer Years of Service |
The number of years the officer had been employed at the time of the incident. |
Officer Identifier |
A unique identifier for an individual officer. |
